My Musical Journey

‘Daljit Neer’, the name itself needs no explanation. Amongst this, if there was a need to describe this personality, there is no doubt that he is recognised to the extreme in the world of media and music.

Originated from the misty streets of Punjab, he now plays a distinctive role in the Bhangra market. Considering the Bhangra demographic today, Daljit is one of the most versatile artists in this field as he has talents which are able to shake the audience.

Always interested in music from the early age, Daljit's talents were recognised early and he was encouraged to develop his music acumen by senior musicians and relatives. He did this via formal training and guidance from his guru, late Ustad Gamdoor Aman in Punjab. During this period he acquired knowledge on both Bhangra and folk singing whilst still in his teens.

...influenced by musical maestros

Heavily influenced by musical maestros like Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Hussain Bux Gullo, Shaukat Ali, Sukhvinder Singh and Mohmammad Rafi Daljit was immensely involved in taking up stage shows for cultural, religious and festive purposes by his early twenties. During this time he sang and accompanied many famous celebrities of Punjabi folklore.

Moving to England in the 80’s gave Daljit Neer a chance to meet Shri Ramnik Varu from Leicester, who played a colossal role in finding and polishing Daljit’s musical talent.

Music hasn’t always been the only medium which plays a part in Daljit’s success. Television and radio has emerged into Daljit Neer’s life as another accomplishment and draw in for the audience. Presenting language programmes weekly on the BBC Asiannetwork and having the position of a Presenter/Producer at MATV has had a huge maintenance to the popularity of Daljit Neer’s celebrity culture. Daljit was responsible for uplifting the profile of MATV by presenting and producing the following programmes which were enjoyed by a wide range of audiences such as MATV Live Talk Show, Punjabi Lok Virsa, Sanjha Punjab and Aap Ki Mehfil.

In addition to all of his productions, Daljit gained more popularity after meeting and interviewing celebrated faces of the world. These include, HM The Queen Elizabeth, Simranjeet Singh Maan, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi – Arun Gandhi, Amir Khan, Dev Anand, Dhara Singh, and many more celebrities from Bollywood and the Asian music industry.

Daljit is currently working on further projects and is working with music producers internationally. As he holds a strong artistic personality he also has the skills and talent to do acting whether it is for drama, film or theatre.
